Circling for Groups, Teams and Communities
Circling is a practice in which a group of people sit in a circle and verbalize what’s happening for them in the present moment. Some people describe it as interpersonal meditation. It sounds almost ridiculously simple – but in my experience, Circling is an efficient, powerful, and beautiful way to shift the interpersonal patterns that are holding us back.
It can also be a portal to deep human connection, expanded states of consciousness, and experiences of profound sacredness.
One of my favorite things about Circling is that it enrolls participants as a group of human equals. Nobody is “healing” anybody else from a position of distance or neutrality. Instead, as we show up with vulnerability, the present moment heals and transform us all.
Time spent Circling can be very beneficial for teams and communities, deepening trust and intimacy in a way that enables better collaboration.
I certified as a Circling Facilitator (Level 1) with John Thompson of Circling Europe, and have also done an Immersion training with Jordan Myska Allen. I am available to lead Circling workshops for your group, team, or intentional community. I also sometimes offer Circling workshops and retreats to the general public.
You can hear me discuss the magic of Circling in this episode of the Emerge podcast with my friend Daniel Thorson.
